All members welcome.

Hi all,
Sorry not to have forwarded this earlier, I hadn't realised the deadline was looming quite so near!

I was contacted by Laura who asked if the LBS would like to put forward a team for the 'Eggheads' quiz show. If anyone is interested, please get in touch with her (and let me know). There are people at the museum who are keen so there might be a chance for a mixed team, if anyone's interested.

Hi Ladies,

Good to speak you both just now. I have attached some information about the show, please have a quick read through and feel free to forward it to any interested parties. I should clarify with you Wendy that it is not necessarily important that team members know each other personally, we have many teams of work colleagues on the show who have been assembled especially for the show but who may work in different departments and so do not know each other well. Teams can be made up of any combination of people and that gives the show a great flavour of people from all different backgrounds and walks of life.

It would be brilliant if you could have a chat with or forward some details to members of the Botanical Society as well as staff at the World Museum Liverpool. Maybe you could join forces and create a super-team! As I explained teams need to be made up of five people plus one standby so six people altogether.

Just to clarify, auditions will be held in Liverpool on Thursday January 28th and we have four, two hour time slots available. Feel free to call me on 0141 419 9880 or pop me an e-mail and I can get any potential teams booked in!

Kind regards,

Laura Brew

Dear Wendy

As contact for your local Botanical society I’m contacting you on behalf of Merseyside Biobank.

Some of your members may have already attended a general training course run by ourselves and these courses will still run as part of 2010 training events. However we are putting together a number of training events for next year, and wish to run some specific training to suit the various Wildlife Groups in the area. Therefore we would like to invite your group to put forward any proposals for specific training for your areas of interest.

Assuming no funding changes these training events will be free of charge and depending on venue and group dynamics we could accommodate approx 20 people. The courses tend to run for 3-4 hours over a morning or afternoon at weekends but can be tailored to needs, and can cover such areas as identification, monitoring and recording. You may, for instance, have an idea for running a training course to enable identification of a specific group/ family that you may wish to run but currently have no funds for. You may just wish to learn how to send your records in to Merseyside Bio Bank, or you may even like to learn how to plot and map your records onto computer software

For further information on Merseyside Biobank we invite you to look at our website at www.merseysidebiobank.org.uk to view more about the organisation and previous 2009 Training diary.

I would be grateful if you could discuss this matter with your committee/ members or any other groups based at museum and e-mail or write me if you have any specific ideas for your group, or require additional information.

I am currently volunteering at Merseyside Bio Bank one day a week and therefore apologies if you do not receive an immediate response from myself.

Thank you for your interest and hope we can be of help to your members.
